About Next Big Sound
I co-founded Next Big Sound in 2008, while in my last semester at Northwestern University. Next Big Sound measures daily music consumption and purchase decisions around the globe. From social to streaming to video, Next Big Sound combines artist activity with context to help the modern music industry make decisions.
Next Big Sound works with thousands of customers, from individual artists to global major labels, and licenses two charts to Billboard magazine. In 2012 we announced a $6.5 million dollar series A financing from Foundry Group, IA Ventures, SofttechVC and other notable angel investors. In July 2015, Pandora Media, Inc. announced the full acquisition of Next Big Sound, Inc. Pandora is keeping the brand and product in market and my new title is "Head of Next Big Sound at Pandora."
My co-founders and I have been fortunate to receive great coverage and accolades since we started the company. We've been featured in Fast Company (#1 most innovative company in the music industry, 2015), Forbes (30 under 30) in the music category three times, Billboard (10 best music companies), Bloomberg BusinessWeek (25 entrepreneurs under 25), Entrepreneur Magazine’s 30 under 30 list and written up by the New York Times, CNN, Fox Business, Washington Post, Techcrunch, and many other great publications.
